Exploring her "Sally and Kiky Traveling" collection, I couldn't help but feel a sense of whimsy and wanderlust. enjoy digitally drawn illustrations that are simply packed with color, detail and objects! Mapen's work are captivating and fascinating to look at; from the characters on the beaches, to the items on the sand, and the patterns on the briefs! Simply amazing - compositionally and overall as an image. Yet, her works are not without stories or emotion - each piece conveys a vibe, an atmosphere and an environment. Her scenes are not just filled with detail, but they also evoke a certain kind of mood and a state of being. Recommended artist to keep an eye out for! Keep going, Mapen! Best regards, Paper.

want to collect art that tells a story. I love the 'Sally and Kiky' collection that tells the story of a ghost and her cat that go traveling to beautiful places Mapenyon could not go to during the pandemic. The travel destinations are filled with little details and colorful patterns.

You love hand-drawn works incorporating patterns and featuring women. Mapenyon's works are fascinating to look at, the use of patterns-- often flowers-- elevates the colorful characters, and adds great visual texture! Her passion for flowers and traveling is clear in her works, I particularly liked the whimsical feel of her Sally and Kiky Traveling collection because the inspiration was truly relatable and also makes me yearn to travel too.
